Since 2015, SA Kitesurf Adventures has provided premier kiteboarding and wing foiling lessons led by IKO-certified instructors. We follow the wind year-round, operating in Lyle, Washington (Columbia River Gorge) from June to September and moving to St. Petersburg, Florida (Tampa Bay) from October to May. Beyond instruction, we offer a curated selection of top-tier equipment and lead world-class adventure trips to exotic locales like South Africa and the Caribbean.

We provide the highest standard of International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) certified lessons for everyone from first-time flyers to advanced riders. Our expert team ensures you stay safe and stoked as you master the elements.

Our Global Footprint
Founded in Cape Town in 2013, SAK now spans two iconic U.S. locations to follow the best seasonal winds:

• June – September: The Columbia River Gorge in Lyle, WA.

• October – May: Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, FL.

Beyond the Lessons
When we aren’t in the water, we’re leading off-the-beaten-path kiteboarding and yoga retreats. Join us for annual trips to South Africa and Kenya, or set sail on a catamaran charter through the Grenadines.

Community & Conservation
Choosing SAK means joining a movement. We are dedicated to protecting our playground through partnerships with the U.S. Forest Service, Florida Springs Council, Tampa Bay Waterkeepers and Ocean Cleanup. Plus, our Sponsor a Student program helps bring the dream of kiteboarding to the next generation of youth.

Dale | Owner

Dale, founder of SA Kitesurf Adventures (SAK), boasts 15 years of professional teaching experience and holds a Level 3, IKO certification. With a wealth of teaching hours under his belt, he's honed the skills needed to instill confidence in his students

Our Team

All our instructors are experienced IKO certified instructors teaching a set teaching standard of kiteboarding tricks and tips formulated by the International Kiteboarding Organization and SA Kitesurf Adventures. All our instructors are insured and trained in CPR and First aid.

Edwin | IKO Instructor

Transitioning from teaching philosophy to administration, Edwin's passion for teaching remains unwavering. Kiteboarding now serves as his outdoor classroom, where he delights in witnessing his students' triumphs

Aiden | IKO Instructor

Being raised by a kite surfing family, Aidan has been kiteboarding for the better part of his lifetime. He began kiting on the shores of Well’s island; learning from his parents as they utilized every moment of their short weekend to kiteboard. He fell in love with instructing shortly after being IKO certified as he found spreading the joy of kiteboarding.

Erika | Co-Owner

Erika, the office guru and yoga instructor at SAK, brings a diverse background in Urban Planning and Public Health to her role. Transitioning from office life, she embraced teaching yoga and traveling with the kite school full-time. Since 2012, Erika has been a certified Vinyasa yoga instructor, completing her 500-Hour Universal Yoga certification under

Zulu | Support

Zulu is SAK’s tiny, but mighty mascot and the best kite dog ever! He loves greeting customers at the shop and on the beach with no shortage of love and licks. He has no fear of the wind or water and took his first ride on a kiteboard with Dale when he was less than a year old.

Nancy | Assistant IKO Instructor

Nancy Diane has been Kiting 5 years. I learned in the Gorge and honed my skills in Saint Petersburg FL. I love to coach kiters who are beginners and feel the need for a bit more security to get to be an independent kiter. Nancy Diane is an RN and utmost safety and fun are the goals for her students.
